Using KELOSCAR
When can I start using KELOSCAR BIOGEL?
As soon as the wound is closed and the skin is fully healed, with no open areas, oozing or scabbing. International recommendations support starting silicone gel early, once the skin has healed. Your healthcare professional can confirm when your skin is ready.
How do I apply it?
Clean and dry the area. Apply a small amount and massage gently into a thin, even layer. Let it dry for about 5 minutes, making sure no excess remains. Apply twice a day.
How long should I continue using KELOSCAR BIOGEL?
Use KELOSCAR BIOGEL for at least 60 to 90 days. If your scar continues to improve after this period, continued use may provide additional benefits.
Can I use KELOSCAR BIOGEL on an old scar?
Yes. KELOSCAR BIOGEL can be used on both new and existing scars. Older or larger scars may require a longer period of treatment to achieve the best possible results.
Can I wear make-up or sunscreen over KELOSCAR BIOGEL?
Yes. Once the gel has completely dried, you can apply cosmetics, sunscreen or other skincare products over it.
Is KELOSCAR BIOGEL suitable for children?
Yes. KELOSCAR BIOGEL can be used by adults and children aged 3 years and older.
What should I do if the gel does not dry properly?
You may have applied too much product. Gently remove any excess and apply a thinner layer. Only a small amount is needed to cover the scar.
What happens if I miss an application?
If you miss an application, apply KELOSCAR BIOGEL as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next application, simply continue with your regular schedule. Do not apply extra gel to make up for a missed application.
Can I massage my scar while using KELOSCAR BIOGEL?
Yes. Once applied, KELOSCAR BIOGEL can be incorporated into a scar massage routine if recommended by your healthcare professional. See Scar massage: when to start and how to do it.
Safety
Is KELOSCAR a medical device?
Yes. KELOSCAR BIOGEL is a CE-marked Class I medical device under Regulation (EU) 2017/745 (MDR), made in Europe.
Can I apply KELOSCAR BIOGEL to an open wound?
No. KELOSCAR BIOGEL should only be applied once the wound has completely healed and the skin is fully closed. Do not use it on open, broken, infected or irritated skin. Avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes.
Are there any side effects?
KELOSCAR BIOGEL is generally well tolerated. However, if you experience irritation, redness, rash or any unexpected skin reaction, stop using the product and consult a healthcare professional.
Can I use it during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Please consult your doctor before using KELOSCAR during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Can I use it with other creams or medicines?
Do not use KELOSCAR at the same time as other topical medicines. If you are using other products on the scar, ask your healthcare professional.
How should I store it?
Store between 15 °C and 25 °C, away from heat and sunlight. Use within 9 months of first opening and do not use after the expiry date.
When should I speak to a healthcare professional?
Seek advice from a healthcare professional if:
- You are unsure whether your wound has healed sufficiently.
- Your scar becomes painful, swollen or shows signs of infection.
- You experience irritation or an unexpected skin reaction while using the product.
- You have concerns about the appearance or progress of your scar.
Results
Will KELOSCAR remove my scar?
No product can remove a scar completely or return the skin to how it was before the injury. KELOSCAR BIOGEL supports the natural maturation of the scar: smoother scars, redness reduction, itching relief and skin hydration.
How long does it take to see results?
Scars change gradually, and improvement takes time. Many people start to notice changes in the appearance and comfort of their scar after a couple of weeks of regular use. For best results, use KELOSCAR BIOGEL consistently for at least 60 to 90 days, or longer if recommended by your healthcare professional. Individual results may vary.
Can KELOSCAR BIOGEL help reduce itching or tightness?
The protective silicone layer helps maintain skin hydration, which may help reduce symptoms commonly associated with scars, such as itching, dryness, tightness and discomfort.
Why is consistency so important?
The benefits of silicone gel depend on regular use over the full period. Consistent use, together with proper scar care and the advice of your healthcare professional, can help you achieve the best possible outcome.
